Salary: $55-60k

Work Location: Salus Center, 408 S Washington Square, Lansing, MI 48933. This is a hybrid remote/in person role.

General Description:

The Development Director will lead all organizational fund development efforts. The Development Director’s main responsibilities are to solicit donations from individuals and local businesses, manage donor relations, organize fundraising events, maintain our donation software online, and develop big picture plans for Salus Center’s fundraising efforts in collaboration with the Board of Directors.


Responsibilities:

- Organize and oversee all fundraising campaigns

- Oversee the writing of grant proposals and gathering of measurable data for reporting to grant organizations as needed

- Collect donor data from campaigns

- Create and maintain a donor management system

- Develop a donor appreciation system and track acknowledgements

- Lead development of relationship growth and large asks

- Meet with and provide presentations to community individuals, groups, businesses and/or other organizations to solicit donations

- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors and other LGBTQIA+ affirming organizations, businesses, groups, or professionals

- Conduct sales of center merchandise

- Oversee special events as they relate to donors and prospective donors

- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop an annual development plan


Preferred Skills and Experience:

- Previous fundraising experience

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work independently

- Proficient in or willing to learn how to use Google Workspace

- Experience with Action Builder or like donor base online platforms

- Demonstrated strong commitment to anti-oppressive ideals and practices

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
